The ARANZ Conference 2026 will be held in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington, November 26-27. We are excited to announce that our call for proposals is now open!
This year’s conference is especially significant as the Archives and Records Association of New Zealand Te Huinga Mahara celebrates its 50th birthday. As such, there will be a focus on the past, present, and future of ARANZ and the archives and records profession in Aotearoa. Pre-conference events will take place in Wellington on Wednesday, 25th November.
Whatever your experience with archives – practitioner (small or large organisation), student, member of the public – we would love to hear your stories about meaningful interactions with records and archives.
We request submissions relating to our conference theme of Mā wai ēnei mahi? | Who is this work for?
Presentation formats:
- Individual papers (20-minute presentation, 10 minutes for questions)
- Lightning talk (10 minutes, including questions)
- Panel discussion (30-45 minutes)
- Posters
- Other formats considered
Submissions can be made using this Google Form and should include:
- Name and biography of presenter/s
- Title of submission
- Abstract of 250 words, including how it relates to the conference theme
- The presentation format you wish to be considered for.
Submissions close 12 August 2026
Accepted submissions will be confirmed by email two weeks following the close of submissions.
Presenters do not need to hold ARANZ membership. Presenting at the conference may also include the opportunity of publication in ARANZ’s journal Archifacts.
Accepted presenters will need to register for the conference.
