This prize will be awarded for the best article or book chapter published on the history of the Manawatu between 30 June 2014 and 30 June 2016. Publications eligible for consideration will normally be of a minimum length of 800 words. Criteria for the award of the prize will take account of the following:
- Quality, range and accuracy of the research
- Quality of writing and clarity of argument
- Overall contribution to understanding of the history of the Manawatu, and links, where relevant, to New Zealand or world history
Process:
Nominations for the award will be sought from the community, with members of the Palmerston North Heritage Trust committee also undertaking searches for relevant articles. Self-nomination is permitted. Only one article per author should be submitted.
A small sub-committee of the Trust will make the final decision, its number to include non-Trust members should the items under consideration include publications by one or more members of the Trust committee.
Closing date for submissions: 15 September 2016. Please send a pdf to matennant@xtra.co.nz, with heading ‘Manawatu history article’.
