He Rau Ringa e Oti ai: Many hands make history
NZHA Conference 2025
Te Whare Wānanga o Waikato and Waipapa Taumata Rau are excited to be working together to host the 2025 Biennial NZHA Conference in Tāmaki Makaurau at Waipapa Taumata Rau.
Many hands make history.
To tell the many and varied stories of our past we need many and varied storytellers in the present. Histories are made and told in many ways in Aotearoa today: by and within whānau; families, marae; kura; schools; libraries; museums; public service agencies; wānanga; universities and other communities and institutions. The more we connect these people and places, the more compelling our storytelling can be.
Recognising this, our conference will be open to a wide range of practitioners, from graduate students to independent and public historians, from the GLAM sector to the academy. History teachers and those in allied disciplines like art history are warmly encouraged to attend. The conference will include te reo sessions, specialist teaching panels, and a graduate forum. Keynotes will be announced in 2025.
While the history of Aotearoa is central to this conference, we recognise all kinds of history are made here. We welcome submissions, especially panels, from our colleagues in other historical disciplines.
As our hands make history, we also hope to build and strengthen our community. Please save the dates 25-28 November 2025 to share, listen, and learn from the latest research into the histories of Aotearoa and beyond.
